Shrink discs - mechanical: HSD and SD

The shrink disc type HSD is a detachable machine element for connecting a hollow shaft to a shaft. The shrink disc is a maintenance-free connection that is insensitive to dirt thanks to the press fit and can be used in a variety of applications. The type HSD is a cost-effective connection of shaft and hub in, for example, wind turbine drives, packaging machines or baggage sorting systems.

In addition to the two-piece HSD series, Stüwe also offers a three-piece SD shrink disc. This is characterised by its slim design and high torque transmission. The three-part torque-controlled frictional connection is also a maintenance-free connection that is insensitive to dirt thanks to the press fit and can be used in a wide range of applications.

CAD models of the HSD and the SD are available from Cadenas.

The shrink disc is outside the flow of force when the system is in operation. Only very low dynamic loads and no wear occur on the shrink disc. The shrink disc is therefore fatigue-resistant when correctly designed.
