The hydraulic shrink disc type HYD is based on the same principle as the mechanical shrink disc type HSD. Due to the hydraulic tensioning, only a fraction of the time is required for assembly and disassembly compared to the mechanical type HSD.
The HYSD Series 18 is particularly suitable for recurring clamping processes, such as on gearbox test benches, in wind turbines, and with hydraulic motors and industrial gearboxes. After clamping, the connection is mechanically locked and the hydraulic pressure is completely released.

The shrink disc is outside the power flow during operation. It only provides the forces required for connection and does not transmit any forces or torques between the shaft and the hub itself. Therefore, only very low dynamic loads occur. With correct design, the HYSD is fatigue-resistant.
